Mrs. Tefft

Students can access their ELA anthology on pearsonrealize.com

A "Family Times" green sheet will be given to each student with each new selection. It will be in the student's ELA binder.  This typically is every other week.  It will give you insight into our week...including a summary of the story, vocabulary, and our grammar focus.   Be sure to check your child's ELA binder.

I recommend that you try some of the activities described on the Family Times.  If you complete an activity with your child, send a note into school with your signature.

Also, remember that all 6th Graders are to read a minimum of 30 minutes each night.

Reader's Notebook

All 6th graders are responsible for maintaining a Reader's Notebook.

The Reader's Notebook is to be used with independent reading books.  It contains guidelines for weekly questions/activities, directions and due dates for monthly projects, and a reading log which should be updated regularly.  Each assignment should reflect the student's best work.  Responses should be written in complete detailed sentences and should include the title of the book.
